It would save a lot of time and awkward-but-well-meaning start of term conversations if I put this list on facebook for everyone to see, so they didn't feel the need to ask those obligatory questions.

1) Yes I had a good holiday thanks
2) Yes, the time just flies/drags (delete as appropriate)
3) My Christmas? Just with family (as was EVERYONE else's, I think you'll find)
3) Yes thank you Santa *was* kind
4) No I didn't do any work either
5) I agree, coming back is very exciting
6) It's true, you do miss college don't you?
7) Wow yes, I can't believe we graduate this year.
8) We should definitely go for coffee/drinks this term
9) Yeah. I'll see you down the bar later.

Ah I jest I jest, these are the convos I actually thrive on...safe territory, nothing can go wrong (unless the other person had some horrific experience during the holidays).

An ode to the punnet of raspberries I've just eaten-

They're red and small,
And not really tall,
They make me happy,
And my teeth aren't gappy.

They're juicy and sweet,
And go down a treat,
I love a raspberry,
They make me merry.

[music |Girls Aloud- Biology (No comments please, it's on the Radio)]

I didn't get any post today, but if I did I suspect it would read something like this-

Dear Miss Lindsay,

As you may be aware there is currently a shortage of Maryland Double Chocolate Chip Cookies in your area of Durham. After thorough investigation by the B.A.C.S (Biscuit And Cake Squad), we have located the lack of aforementioned biscuit specifically to your college.

We would like to now formally warn you that you are a prime suspect for the missing biscuits, and have been placed under B.A.C.S protection scheme. We aim to help your seemingly innocent biscuit snaffling and rehabilitate you under the B.A.C.S HOBNOB scheme (Helping Others Beat Nicking Our Biscuits). It is of our greatest concern that you co-operate with us in this plan, as we would hate to use force in an attempt to support you.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we hope this will curb the biscuit shortage currently ravaging Durham Bailey.

Yours Bakingly,

The fingers on my right hand have swollen up and turned red. How bizarre.

Whoever brought the word 'awesome' to Durham should either be commended or shot- it's probably the most common phrase in use here. I guess it's a relic from the late 80's that never quite crept out of the student vernacular. Or perhaps it's in an 'ironic' resurge of Bill and Ted-style conversation.

Acronyms. [Nov. 1st, 2005|05:27 pm]
[mood |lazylazy]
[music |Fatboy Slim]

Durham is a city of hoodies and acronyms.

There's shirts with sports teams emblazoned across them, scarves with a particular colour scheme for each college, and hoodies with stuff like 'D.S.U' (Durham Student Union), 'C.C.C' (Collingwood Cross Country), 'C.U' (Christian Union) or, my personal favourite, 'C.U.N.T' (Christian Union? No Thanks!).

All the merchandise is called 'stash', by the way. Makes it sound more respectable, really.
